Welcoming Newcomers in the New Year!

A Welcoming Checklist is also available as a free download to help you plan. Keep in mind that you can submit Al‑Anon group changes online any time throughout the year.
Although the family disease of alcoholism never takes a vacation, the post-holiday season is a time when many individuals suffering from the family disease of alcoholism seek comfort in Al-Anon. Here are some things to think about as your group prepares to welcome newcomers for the new year:

Even a small act of service can have a big impact. Visit al-anon.org/meeting to check your group’s listing. Are the time, location, and other details correct? By keeping your group information up to date, you help ensure that people seeking Al‑Anon’s support can find it. Verifying your group information only takes a minute, and it may be the quiet outreach that helps someone begin their journey toward hope and recovery. Update anytime at al‑anon.org/update

What’s Your Recovery Resolution?
As we begin a new year, it’s a good time to pause and reset. Setting a recovery goal allows us to focus on healing, emotionally, physically, and spiritually; to find balance; and to move forward with purpose.
January’s blog topic is, “Do you have a recovery resolution for 2026?” As always, you can also write about Al-Anon’s three Legacies. This month features Step One, Tradition One, and Concept One.

Understanding Publishable Group Email Addresses in Al-Anon

A publishable group email address is an Al-Anon group’s publicly accessible contact address used for public outreach and group communication. This email address is displayed on the al‑anon.org meeting search webpage (al-anon.org/meetings) as well as locally on Area websites and Al-Anon Information Service meeting schedules. The email address is an invaluable resource for newcomers to request meeting access or additional information about the meeting.
Add a publishable group email address to your group record using the Al-Anon Group Record Change form at al-anon.org/update
